Gasshuku Weekend
This year will be our fourth Gasshuku and each time we learn more about Karate, each other and most importantly, ourselves.
Gasshuku literally means ”lodging together” but its true meaning and purpose is “training together” in the mutual endeavour of the art of Karate-do. All that have previously attended know that it really means “tough training” so your “will and spirit” is tested with the goal to improve both.
Training is outdoors so you are faced with new challenges and experiences and we train regardless of the weather. There are no excuses for not training, only reasons to train! Your commitment is to train every session and participate in all other activities.
It is both character building and (Dojo) team building so self motivation and encouraging your fellow Karateka is paramount. We move as fast as our slowest so no one is left behind.
Approach the Gasshuku with an open mind regardless of how many times you have participated before so you can learn and experience more. Bring a positive attitude as well as a clear focus on Karate-do. There will be a good balance between “pleasure & pain” so you will gain a greater appreciation for both then apply that to your training when you return to the Dojo and most importantly to life in general.
Remember, “Karate is not only a lesson in self defence but also a lesson in life” and the Gasshuku will help you to better understand this. I am looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you once again.
